Information we collect
When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you provide and, when included, your first name, ZIP code, and signup source.
When you contact us or submit an event, we collect the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address, message, event details, venue information, organizer contact details, links, images, and notes.
If you inquire about advertising or paid placements, we may collect business, campaign, package-interest, and payment-related details needed to respond or coordinate the placement.
How we use information
We use your information to send the Cap City Buzz newsletter, respond to messages, review submitted events, coordinate advertising or featured placements, maintain local event and editorial workflows, prevent spam, and improve the site.
Submitted event details may be edited, summarized, or published on Cap City Buzz, in the newsletter, or in related promotional channels if we decide the event is a fit for readers.
Service providers
Cap City Buzz uses service providers to operate the site and related workflows, including beehiiv for newsletter subscriptions, Formspree for contact and event submission forms, Supabase for site and admin data, Google Analytics for site traffic analytics, and Stripe or Stripe-hosted payment links for paid advertising or featured placements.
These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices. We only share information with them as needed to run the site, communicate with you, process payments, and manage submissions.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and service providers may receive basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, timestamps, and error logs.
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic, including page views, referrers, browser and device information, approximate location signals, and related usage patterns. We use this information to improve the site and understand what local content readers find useful.
Choices and requests
You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails using the unsubscribe link included in those emails.
You can ask us to update or delete personal information you previously provided by emailing hello@capcitybuzz.com. We may keep limited records when needed for security, legal, payment, editorial, or operational reasons.
Retention and security
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the newsletter, manage submissions, respond to requests, operate the site, and maintain business records.
We use reasonable safeguards and reputable service providers, but no website, email system, or online service can guarantee perfect security.

Cap City Buzz is a local information site and newsletter for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can review it.
